Sky Bet Ebor Community Sweepstake
In August we found out that our charity had been selected as one of 22 charities for the Sky Bet Ebor Community Sweepstake at York Races on Saturday 22nd August. Rick and Kim went on Thursday 20th August to represent our charity when the draw was made. After a little bit of confusion we ended up with the favourite "Love Me Tender"!!! If our horse won we would receive a cheque for £20,000. Saturday came and what a lovely day, we were treated to an parachute jump at the start and various races before we were taken down to the paddock to watch our race. Our horse started off in the pack and stayed there even though Maggie and I were cheering for it to win. The amazing thing about this event is that all the charities that did not place receive £1,000, which is such a brilliant donation by Sky Bet, we are very grateful to the organisers for looking after us so well.
